Dr Bosun Sansui

Director

Dr Bosun Sanusi is a researcher, academic, and social entrepreneur whose work sits at the intersection of enterprise, innovation, sustainability, and climate change, with a strong emphasis on applying research to real-world development challenges. His research interests span circular economy, food waste and loss valorisation, food security, rurality, informal development, tourism, and climate resilience, particularly within underserved and emerging economy contexts.

Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, Bosun brings extensive international field experience, having worked across the UK and emerging economies to design and deliver research-led programmes that address structural inequalities and community-level vulnerabilities. His work consistently combines academic rigour with participatory, community-embedded approaches, ensuring that research outputs translate into practical interventions and policy-relevant insights.

Bosun has led and contributed to multiple grant-funded research and community initiatives, supported by organisations including The Mayor of LondonThe National Lottery Community FundCivil Society Roots, and the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF). These programmes have focused on areas such as youth enterprise development, criminal justice system reform, inter-generational community research, and water security in informal urban settlements.

Alongside his role at CSDI, Dr Sanusi is a Senior Lecturer and Researcher (Associate Professor) in Enterprise, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship at the University of Central Lancashire, where he serves in several academic leadership roles, including Course LeadModule Lead, and Director of Studies (DBA). His teaching and research promote inclusive, ethical, and sustainability-focused approaches to business and innovation.

He is also a Climate Literacy Mentor with the UN Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME), supporting higher education institutions globally to embed sustainability principles across teaching, research, and institutional practice. Through his work at CSDI, Bosun continues to advance research-led innovation, capacity building, and context-driven resilience strategies that contribute to sustainable and just transitions.
